2024 CSA Info

Please read all before signing up for a share.

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a way for consumers to be directly connected to the farmer and vica versa. It is a system that is set up to support the farmer during critical times of the year. Receiving payment at the beginning of the year, when crops are not ready to sell yet, helps the farmer pay for seeds, supplies, labor and anything else that is needed to grow the food. The share member will then receive a box of produce throughout the year to cover the payment. This also comes with a little risk for the member. It is a shared risk. It is already risky for a farmer to make a living growing food. Unpredictable weather, crop failures, insect outbreaks can cause loss of income, which makes farming hard on some and impossible for others. As a share member, you share that risk. As a farm business, we will do everything in our power to satisfy our end of the CSA deal. Being a diversified farm is a benefit. If we do have a crop failure, we will have many other options to fill our shares.

By signing up to be a CSA share member you agree that:

  1. you understand there is a shared risk in investing in a farm. Though we will work our hardest to fulfill our agreement to give you the best product we produce.

  2. we cannot guarantee a refund, but we will figure out a way for everyone’s needs to be met.

  3. if you have a problem or concerns with your share or the product in them, please communicate with us about that so we can find a solution.

  4. please keep in mind that we are an organic farm that uses as little pesticides as possible to manage insects and disease, so our produce may not be perfect all the time. And getting second grade produce will also help cut on food waste, which is a huge problem in the world.

  5. you will pick up your box on the day and place you have chosen within 24 hour of drop off. If you are unable to, please arrange for someone else to or contact us so we can make other arrangements.

  6. Payment will be accepted starting January 1st by cash, check, or venmo (with a 2% charge for processing fees). If you would like to set up a payment plan, you can write a series of checks that we will deposit on specific dates. We can do once a month, or whatever works for you. Please communicate with us about that.

  7. you will read any information we send out to you. Emails can contain recipes, farm updates, or possibly pickup cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances. It is important you read the sent info so you don’t make an unnecessary trips. (for example, Pick up day will change the week of Labor day)

  8. keep in mind, we are still new to the CSA model. Though we have been growing food and selling wholesale for decades, this is a different style of getting our food to the consumer. Please bear with us if something isn’t working or if we change methods.

  9. If you will be going out of town or you can not pick up your box on a certain day, there are options:

-You can donate your box to a friend or family member.

-You can reschedule your box for a different day. Especially if you get a half share. That would be very easy to get your box on one of your “off” weeks.

-You can use the end of the year make up week. We can extend the season so you get a box the week after the CSA is technically over.

-You can use credit from a missed box (I can let you know how much that is) and use it for any product in our store (syrup, meat, apples…).

  10. finally, we are very excited about having this extra connection with the people who are eating the food that we grow. We hope you are also ready to be more connected to the farm, the land, and the people who dedicate their lives to providing healthy and yummy food to you.

Solidarity Share

Any amount donated in addition to your CSA share fee

$10-$500

This year, we are partnering with Food for the People to raise money for their CSA program. Any donation you make toward this “Solidarity Share” will go directly to giving low income families (with a focus on BIPOC community) access to free weekly CSA shares, while also supporting a cooperative of local, diverse farmers to earn a living wage. We believe everyone should have access to locally and responsibly grown farm food, not just those with the financial ability. Please consider donating in whatever capacity you are able.

Tenets of the program:

  1. Providing nutrient dense food from local farms to BIPOC and working twin cities communities.

  2. Paying a living wage to BIPOC and small farmers in the twin cities foodshed.

  3. Creating opportunity and education in food production for twin cities BIPOC and working class community.

  4. Building the local movement for food sovereignty in our local foodshed.

For more information about the program, please visit their website Food for the People.

Pick up options

We have a few pick up options to choose from, though some have limited space and we may run out of availability for some sites. Let us know what your preference is.

Rising Sun Farm -10 minutes east of River Falls. Picking up at the farm is the best way to get your box! It will be refrigerated the whole time, pick up hours are flexible since we never close, and you can get it on your own without anyone helping. We may even have exchange options if there is something in your box that you don’t want and you want to exchange it for something that we may have an abundance of. You will also have the opportunity to purchase other on farm goodies, like maple syrup, frozen cider, pork, eggs, or extra produce in our self serve store. This is also a great way to come see the farm on a weekly, or biweekly basis. The farm is a great place to be.

Pick up days are more flexible. You can pick up Tuesdays or Fridays (you must choose one or you may be assigned if certain days fill up).

River Falls Farmers Market -Dick’s Market parking lot in River Falls. You can pick up your box from 8-12 on Saturdays from our sales table. The produce will not be refrigerated during that time, but will be in a closed box in the shade of the van. This will give you an opportunity to visit other farm stands at the market as well.

Whole Earth Grocery Co-op -Main street River Falls. You can pick up your box directly from the Co-op on Fridays during their business hours. We will drop off boxes by 9:30am on Friday. If left, we will take your box back on Saturdays at 12, so they must be picked up by then. Due to the small cooler space at the co-op, your box will not be refrigerated, so we encourage you to pick up your box as soon as you can on Friday.

Hudson Grocery Co-op (formerly Fresh and Natural) - Hudson. We will be delivering boxes on Fridays around 10:30 am. These boxes will be refrigerated. You must pick up your box within 24 hours. Please ask an employee to help get your box from the cooler in the produce department.
